[05 Sep 2004|07:23pm] [ mood | hot ] [ music | Favor House Atlantic-Coheed and Cambria ] well, we've survived a week of school so far, and it hasn't been too bad. I like most of my classes, especially Journalism and Psych. At first I didn't like my Spanish teacher too much, but in the middle of the week she rearranged the desks, and now I'm sitting in the back of the room versus the front. Spanish class suddenly got a lot better. Field hockey practice every day was tiring, but I have a feeling we  have a good season ahead of us. Even though we may not have the best coach in the world, all the players are generally pretty close. Our first scrimmage is Tuesday vs. North Haven, so we'll see how that goes =) Friday night we went over to Diana's to celebrate Hannah's birthday. I finally got to see Office Space!! It was pretty funny, although I guess it didn't quite live up to the hype that everyone said it would. Yesterday I got most of my work done, b/c I had craaazy amounts of homework to do. A family from from NJ came up to spend the night...hmm...and that was pretty much yesterday. Today we dropped him off @ the train station, and I went to see Paparazzi. It was pretty good, but made me wonder how many psycho paparazzi really exist out in Hollywood lol. Leaving for Vicky's in a little bit, it's a birthday party for Hannah & Ali, and I have a feeling we're going to watch The Girl Next Door. I've seen it already, but even though the premise of the movie is about a porn star, it was actually funny. ugh, and I registered for october SATs. so maybe it'd be a good idea if i started studying for those.... thank god for labor day. <3 whoever invented that random holiday. and in case it wasn't obvious, i changed my user picture.it doesn't quite match the layout, but i found a bunch of really nice michael vartan icons, so i just couldn't resist =) take the chance

[25 Aug 2004|10:50pm] [ mood | awake ] [ music | 1985-Bowling for Soup ] wow. i am in dire need of an update. it's funny how i updated this more during the school year....i guess it was a good thing to have when i was bored, or felt the need to procrastinate rather then get school stuff done. sooo much stuff has happened since the last post, it'd be impossible to try and talk about everything. overall, this summer was pretty good. Work took up a lot of time, but it's helping me get $$ for a potential car, so that makes it all worth it. I think I'm going to genuinely miss work once school starts back up again. I liked it 1000x more this summer than i did 2 years ago. i'll miss everyone i worked w/, and my manager was such a sweet guy. he even gave me a present as an end of work/thank you gift =) Saw a few colleges....we went to NY a week ago to look @ Colgate and Ithaca College. Both are really nice schools, but I just don't know. I'm definitely not picky enough w/ schools, and everyone has been asking lately, "what's the #1 school on your list?" haha and of course, i feel pretty dumb when i try to explain that i don't really have one. i'm just too open about most schools, and could see myself at a lot of places. am i the only senior who's doesn't have one school that they've completely fallen in love with? ahh whatever It's been nice having time to just hang out w/ friends, but it seems like there's never enough time to do everything we want to do. Monday Ali and I got to go shopping! lol and we saw the Princess Diaries, which was pretty bad =( i was really disappointed, especially since i thought it was going to be cute. Yesterday was more shopping in Hamden, and a couple of the girls came over last night, and we watched Now & Then. such a cute movie...i had forgotten how much i liked it. but vicky and i still have to watch almost famous someday!! lol Today was Brass Mills w/ Meghan, and I went to Walgreens & Old Navy afterwards. Went to Old Navy to get Ali a gift, and guess who happens to be shopping there when I go? haha ali was there, along w/ tricia, so that was pretty random. But she picked out her gift, so @ least I know she likes it =) Tomorrow I have work, then work again on Friday, my last day =( Preseason starts on Saturday, so that should be interesting. I'm excited for this year, especially since we're going to be friggin seniors. Got  school clothes/school supplies yesterday, so at least i'm semi-organized. and i finished the da vinci code today. it was an amazing book, and was the first thing i've read in a while that i was genuinely interested in, and kept my attention. this summer i became involved in some drama, which i felt bad about. i honestly don't intend to get myself caught up in other people's problems, but it sorta just happens. and of course, i'm not exactly a trained therapist, so the advice i give, sucks. ugh...i just wish i could be helpful and attempt to solve conflict/drama, b/c then i wouldn't feel so bad about being a part of it. oh! and daphne came back to the US this summer, so a bunch of us got to see her, so that was fun. wow-maybe my summer was pretty boring. it didn't seem that way when it happened, but typing things out like that make it seem 1000x more dull. maybe it really is that dull, and my perception is just that warped. damn, i don't feel old enough to be a senior. where did the last 3 years go? *just as a side note, i really do need a new lj name. i obviously didn't have any good ideas when i made this one, so i think it's time for a change. any good suggestions? 2 |take the chance

[22 Jul 2004|07:27pm] [ mood | tired ] [ music | Rollover DJ-Jet ] well, i can basically sum up the past couple of weeks in a few words: college visits, hanging out w/ friends, work, field hockey camp, work. lol that's not exactly it, but it definitely feels that way. Boston College and Bentley were both nice, but I think Bentley's too much of a business school, and BC is a little bit too big for me, so idk yet if I'll apply to either of them. Friends from NJ came up to visit last weekend, except I was working most of the time they were here. Today was the first day that work was kinda boring in the beginning, especially when there's not a ton of customers. But yesterday afternoon I got back from field hockey camp up at UConn. We were there from sunday-wednesday, and it was a lot of fun!! Pretty much the whole team was there, so we all got to learn new skills and bond. haha and we had some very interesting discussions, which basically revolved around a select few topics. I roomed w/ Sabrina, and we got in trouble the last night we were there! lol being the badass that I am, Alyssa, Kelly, and Liz were talking w/ us in our room until 12:30. All of a sudden, Sabrina gets a call on her cell from Laura, who's like "the camp director is coming down the hall!" so before they had a chance to leave, the camp director knocked on the door, and was ticked off when she found them in our room (fyi: curfew is 11:00) haha Liz hid in the closet!! buut, our team won 1st place in karoke =) that night which was awesome. one downfall was that it was pretty hot the last 2 days, but our coach was really good, and overall everyone just had a good time. so it's my first day back home, and i just got back from work. One girl quit today, so now I have to fill in for a lot more hours than before, so I'm working every day from now until tuesday, and even closing a few nights, which i've never done before, so that should be interesting lol. next wednesday i have off, and then thursday is our Habitat for Humanity building day. still have no idea where/when that's taking place, so I should probably figure that out pretty soon. oops, just remembered i have captain's practice for the next 2 weeks too. ahhh....why does time in the summer always get filled up so quickly?!?! alright, time to go unpack and maybe be motivated to get some summer reading done. take the chance

[11 Jul 2004|09:09pm] [ mood | peaceful ] [ music | Don't Let Go-Weezer ] i love sunday nights in the summer =) just because there's not that terrible feeling that comes from knowing you have to go back to school the next day. So Vicky picked Ashley and me up on Friday, and we drove around West Haven until we found a place to have dinner.it was a lot of fun, plus a couple of questions were answered lol but we all had a good time, plus there were these cute guys next door who seemed really nice b/c they were smiling. (i'm beginning to realize that most of my entries involve guys in some way-sorry about that =( and it's definitely something i'll have to work on) Then we went to see Cabaret...it was an amazing performance, and there were a lot more people involved in the production than i originally thought. the whole musical was very....sexual? lol but it was still a good show, and I know vicky enjoyed it a lot ;) Yesterday i had work again, plus my cousins from NJ were here, and stayed till this morning. It was good to see them. Went to see King Arthur this afternoon. I was ready to fall asleep a few times lol but the battle scenes were really good. Tomorrow I have work all afternoon, and my mom and I are driving up to Massachusetts tomorrow night. We're going to stay @ my aunt and uncle's house, and then visit BC and Bentley College on Tuesday. There's also a party Tuesday night, which hopefully I'll be home in time for. and field hockey camp is in a week! so i probably should've gone running tonight... take the chance

[08 Jul 2004|11:19pm] [ mood | awake ] [ music | In My Place-Coldplay ] had work again today, 1-6:30. the assistant manager from Guilford was there b/c I guess she wanted extra hours or something? anyway, it went by pretty quickly, especially since the store was quiet about 75% of the time. all that downtime gave the her and I a lot of time to chat....and i learned a couple of interesting pieces of info lol. she was also telling me how, after high school, the only places to meet potential boyfriends are either in bars or clubs. ehhh...not sure how i feel about that. oh well, there's always underage nights. but there was a really cute customer (of course, i completely got flustered and messed up his checkout but that's just me haha). tomorrow are seniors pictures, and maybe i'll go to the mall afterwards. those gift certificates are just begging to be spent =) then cabaret! i'm excited to go, especially since i don't have to drive down there, all because vicky is the best!! lol maybe i should get some sleep so i can be semi-awake for pictures tomorrow. haha riiiiight..... take the chance

[07 Jul 2004|05:43pm] [ mood | mellow ] [ music | Sunrise-Norah Jones ] it's funny how someone can treat you a certain way that makes you feel badly, but later on when the tables are turned and others are acting that way towards them, they whine and complain about it. karma's a real bitch, i guess. ahh i don't really want to go to work tomorrow. I like the job and everything, but some of the customers just skeeve me out. I absolutely hate the feeling you get when you sense that you're being watched, and i get weirded out waaay too easily by comments that are said probably without a second thought. i promised myself that i wouldn't let it bother me, but i guess that's shot to hell. on a lighter note, I'm going to see Cabaret on Friday w/ Vicky and Ashley! I'm excited-i've been told that they've put a lot of work into this production, so i'm sure it'll be amazing. tickets are $20 though...when did everything start getting so expensive? sometimes i wish i lived in a time when things were just..i dunno...simpler? don't mind this entry. just a lot of random thoughts, all of which sounded better in my head. take the chance

[05 Jul 2004|08:36pm] [ mood | good ] [ music | Roses-Outkast ] ugh...so we're back from the gorgeous,warm beach, and connecticut is nice and damp and rainy =/ anyway, fourth of july was fun, low-key lol but fun. Went on the beach and everything for a couple hours, then watched the fireworks at night. The water was really warm this time, and i think i might've gotten a little bit of a tan! haha i think this is the first time this summer that i've been on the beach and not burned. but we drove home in the rain this morning because I had to work from 1-6. My second day was pretty good. I met two of the other employees working there-they're both really nice. after they asked me what colleges i went to visit, etc. the guy started telling me how Gettysburg is notorious for its ghost stories lol. umm...there were a couple creepy male customers, but i guess they're a part of life, so it's not really worth getting into that. i'm only working 2 more days this week, so I guess I'm lucky i don't have to work monday-friday. oh, and the tug-of-war game I've already started w/ my parents over the car is getting old. fast. hmm...seniors pics are on friday-i should probably try and find a nice shirt/outfit before then. tonight I've been trying to download lots of songs onto my new mini iPod. i actually think i've figured everything out, without even having to look at the directions! lol i guess it's the little things that make me happy =) gotta go unpack though-more later. take the chance

at the shore [02 Jul 2004|06:16pm] [ mood | relaxed ] [ music | some jazz music that my uncle put on ] right now i'm on my dad's laptop @ my aunt and uncle's house down in LBI, NJ. We left Wednesday night for Pennsylvania, and slept over in a motel before looking at colleges the next day. Went to Dickinson College first-it was pretty nice, very heavy with international programs, but overall I liked it. it has the #1 college library in the country though lol so that was good. Then we went to Gettyburg College....beautiful campus, and I liked it also. Our tour guide wasn't that great though, it was the last tour of the day so I think she just wanted to be done lol. The buildings and grounds were really pretty, and everyone seemed really friendly. My dad is really pushing for Gettysburg b/c it was his second choice after Tulane, and according to him, "if he had done college all over again, he would've gone to Gettyburg". I never would've thought the college process would've been this hard. I can see myself at a bunch of different schools, and it sucks b/c I'm supposed to be narrowing down my choices, whereas I don't have strong feelings of dislike towards most of them. lol oh well, a year from now this'll all be done. after a very long car ride, we got to the beach at around 9ish last night. This morning I went to the gym and went out in the ocean when we got home. The water was kinda cold @ first, but it didn't take too long to get used to. This afternoon we were going to go see a movie, but were afraid that traffic would be too crazy, so we stayed on the island and my mom and i went to get our nails done. haha all important stuff, i know =) anyway, tomorrow we'll probably hit the beach again, and maybe go see Spiderman 2/play minigolf/who knows? It's really nice to be down here-everything is so calm and the weather and beach are gorgeous. i have to be back in CT on monday b/c I have work in the afternoon =/ so i probably won't update again until then.hope everyone's enjoying the summer so far! 2 |take the chance

[29 Jun 2004|10:57pm] [ mood | happy ] [ music | Carry this Picture-Dashboard Confessional ] alright, time for that update as promised. this week has just gone by so fast. junior year is finally over-and it's almost surreal. i still can't get over that we're now seniors....friggin seniors. finals went okay, nothing terrible, and my parents don't have any reason to be upset about this upcoming report card, thank god. Wednesday was my birthday, which was really nice & low key. i took my last final, then went out to dinner that night w/ the family and my grandma lol. the next day elana had invited me over to her house in the late morning, so i went, expecting there'd maybe be a few other people there, but that's it. she and a bunch of people ended up throwing a surprise b-day party for madhavi and i. i had such a great time...it was completely unexpected, but just really really nice. haha they kept it sooo quiet that neither madhavi nor I had any clue... that night was vicky's birthday/graduation party. again, lots of fun..it was funny meeting all of the people that we had always heard her talk about. she got this two awesome pillows too =) lol i think i'm gonna have to go back to her house and steal one....the next day was the last day of school, and it was basically spent getting grades and hanging out in the choir room. afterwards we crashed madhavi's house, played cards, watched Pirates of the Caribbean, and played Cranium (which our team dominated lol) A couple of us went to vicky's that night for dinner, and afterwards we watched Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind. trippy movie, but the whole concept was pretty cool. Saturday we drove down to NJ to my cousin's house. i got to do a little shopping =) and drive my cousin's huge cadillac around town. then we had dinner to celebrate my aunt's 80th birthday before I drove over to Andrea's house. We ended up seeing The Notebook w/ her friend Steve. I slept over her house that night, and we drove down to Pt. Pleasant Beach the next day. sooooo nice down there, but I ended up getting sunburned. just an added bonus: there were lots of cute guys on the beach w/ their shirts off =) That night Andrea and her mom drove me back up to CT, and ended up staying over a couple nights b/c they went to look @ UConn and Trinity College. I had my first day of work yesterday-went pretty smoothly, plus the manager is really nice. Last night Andrea and I went to see Shrek 2 (haha finally!!!) and somehow we managed to get lost on the way home from the Waterbury Mall? lol idk how that happened, but after a call to my parents @ 11:30, we managed to find our way home. She and her mom left this morning, and tonight my dad's friend took my family out to dinner, and then we all went to see Farenheit 9/11. Totally bashed Bush, but it really got me thinking about everything that's going on w/ the govt. and the military. Tomorrow we're driving to look at Dickinson and Gettysburg before we head down to LBI to spend 4th of July weekend there. jeeeez....that was a long entry, but I guess I did owe a big update. I'm still in shock that this year is actually over, but i guess it won't take too long to get used to the fact that we're the CLASS OF 2005!!!!! 2 |take the chance

almost done [22 Jun 2004|08:52pm] [ mood | accomplished ] [ music | Somebody Told Me-The Killers ] well...5 finals are finished, only 1 more to go. spanish + math were on Monday, spanish was just alright, and math was pretty bad =( Today was physics, the multiple choice wasn't terrible, but then our class had a section that Mr. Feldman made up and gave only to our class. and of course,it was impossible, plus it included stuff from the first half of the year! Oh well, maybe I can hope for a passing grade? Then tomorrow's english, which hopefully will be pretty easy. The rest of the weekend was pretty boring, Saturday was spent babysitting and Sunday was spent studying =/ Yesterday after school I got roped into staying after to help clean up the costume room (i found out later that only board members were required to go help out) but it ended up being pretty fun, plus the costume room actually looks nice and clean. Laura called me back today-we haven't really "talked" in such a long time, and it was really nice to catch up =) aaaand....we're driving down to NJ this weekend to celebrate my aunt's 80th b-day, so i'm staying @ Andrea's house. again, i haven't seen her since last summer, so it'll be fun to just get to hang out again. oh yeah,  my birthday's tomorrow and i get to sleep semi-late b/c my exam is in the second time slot.=) but elana's asking for my help w/ math (haha this should be interesting) so i'll write more later.... take the chance

I never used to be this much of a procrastinator lol but i don't know what's happened. ugh-i guess the panic just hasn't set in yet....maybe when i'm babysitting tonight it will? and the parents have already started on the whole "being completely overprotective" thing w/ me having my license. They won't let me drive to a bunch of places on my own yet (including the post road). what they don't seem to realize is...there's nowhere to go in woodbridge, unless you're driving to someone's house!! w/e. I know they're just looking out for me, blah blah blah. sorry for the complaining-just needed a place to rant.oh, and I got Vicky's b-day present today!! (but don't worry Meg-we can still go shopping =) ) btw, I turned on MTV today and saw that the The Ashlee Simpson show was on. and um.....it looked exactly like a carbon copy of her sister's show lol down to the guys that both of the girls are with. part of me is angry that she's trying to mooch off her sister's (semi) success, but then i feel kinda sorry for her, just b/c the whole concept of her attempt to become famous is a little pathetic. and it's not like she's the only one doing this either. lol don't ask me why i waste space in a post writing about this....i guess deliberately avoiding something results in thinking about a lot of other random/stupid things. o well. spanish vocab, here i come..... [19 Jun 2004|08:50am] [ mood | drained ] [ music | There's a Fire-OK GO ] only one more week of school left!! =) This week was good....I got my acting & history finals over with, and monday I have math and spanish. i went to see The Notebook on Thursday-such a tearjerker, but really good nevertheless. Yesterday I drove down to Tommy K's to meet the manager and set up a day where i could be "trained" to work the cash register, etc. SAT II scores were also back on Thursday. I'm happy w/ my writing score, but i dunno about history. I did alright, I guess, but I'm debating whether I'm going to take them over again. I really don't want to right now, but who knows about next fall? maybe i'll feel like taking them again... Last night i went to courtney's w/ vicky and hannah. we just kinda hung out, watched movies, talked, etc. it was really nice just to spend a quiet friday night w/ them....and i got some questions answered lol We watched The Man Who Cried (i fell asleep for like 10 mins during that lol) and Space Balls. I often get chastised for not seeing all of these "classic" movies, so Space Balls was a definite must. also, I drove myself to Courtney's last night, and drove home alone in the dark for the first time. haha i love how it's still so exciting when I drive myself (vicky did insist on following me home lol) so today I should probably study for spanish =( tomorrow i'm gonna cram for math, and maybe go to abby's house b/c she's having a couple people over for a study group thing. This afternoon my parents are going into NYC to see a play, and won't be home till late tonight, so that means i'm babysitting Cara tonight. just have to make it to wednesday.... take the chance

Too bad I'm not going to their concert this summer =( Anyway, sorry to start off this entry with such randomness....School is almost over!! only about 5 more days left, plus finals. We actually took our history final today, and we're taking our acting final tomorrow-just to get it over with. which is awesome, b/c it means that next wednesday, we get to sleep in. it kinda sucks that most other schools are either done, or are finishing up this week. oh well, i guess amity's just cool like that. This Friday my dad demanded that I go and talk to the amity manager lol i guess he wants to meet me and all that stuff. I was supposed to go today, but i just didn't have time b/c I had a bunch of school stuff to get done. part of me is excited about working this summer, the other half is just dreading it. it'll be nice to have $$, but i'm worried i'll get sick of having to go to the same job everyday. oh wait...sounds like something i have to do monday-friday from september to june lol. This weekend is going to suck...and will probably be consumed mostly by finals. maybe i'll see if my parents will let me go out either friday/saturday night. monday i have 2 finals =( then tuesday i have one and get to leave early, wednesday i have one and get to come in late, then they're over!!! I think Meghan and I are going to try and go shopping/see a movie on Thursday, and then Vicky's having her graduation & birthday party that night!! sooo excited for the end of the year...it seriously can't come soon enough. i think i'm getting senioritis-that's probably bad considering i still have one more year to go lol just realized that my birthday is a week from today...it's weird how this year it doesn't seem like that big of a deal, and i'm not as excited about it as i usually am. haha o well, i guess i'm just getting old =D   take the chance

[13 Jun 2004|07:24pm] [ mood | busy ] [ music | Screaming Infidelities-Dashboard Confessional ] damn i really do owe an update and now that I go to actually write one, these past two weeks have just been a blur. last weekend consisted of SAT IIs, Pops, and getting sick and having to miss Tori's dance recital :( Pops were really good...I know everyone gives Minus Ned crap b/c they were in over half of the acts, but they are a really good band, and wouldn't perform as much if they didn't sound halfway decent. This past week I got my actual "license" at the DMV!!!! and we got our yearbooks. the ones this year are really well done...hopefully when we're seniors ours will be just as nice! Also saw the Stepford Wives this week w/ Vicky-her brother was an extra in it!! haha it was awesome, especially for her b/c I didn't get a good glimpse at him during the movie, but she recognized the back of his head lol This weekend a bunch of people came over on Friday to work on the english project (which is allll done!), then tori and courtney had dinner w/ us, and we all went out to go see Harry Potter =p. we were @ the waterbury mall, and there was about a half hour left in the movie, when the fire alarm went off!! lol looking back at it now, it's kinda funny, but we were all a little freaked out that night. everyone had to evacuate the building, and we all just waited outside for a half hour before realizing we weren't going to get to finish the movie, and called to get picked up. Yesterday morning was my sister's soccer game, where i got the worst sunburn. the rest of the afternoon consisted of doing the 12081802 things that needed to get done this weekend, then babysitting my sister and her friend. it was actually good to be able to stay in though, considering I didn't finish making stuff for the bake sale until 10. so yeah, this morning was the Habitat for Humanity bake sale @ Stop 'n Shop. Got there around 8:30 to help set up, then sold stuff w/ Meghan and Madhavi until I  had to get to church to be there for the annual "welcome coffee" that my mom helps organize w/ her Social Action committee. thank god Tori was there, otherwise I would definitely have been bored to tears lol....but we had to stay there and help out for a little. drove back to stop 'n shop b/c the bake sale was still going on, but they had enough people working there, so i just drove back home. yeah, that's right, this morning was the first time i drove by myself =) haha it seems pretty trivial, i guess, but it was sooo nice having all that freedom, and not have someone sitting in the passenger seat, telling you what to do. anyway, in the small distances I drove, there were no major glitches (couldn't figure out how to turn off the back windshield wipers though lol) The rest of the day was just eh-spent running errands and doing homework. side note: hate the computers at school. the stupid machines deleted our entire powerpoint that we had finished, so i had to go and make a completely new one this weekend. oh yeah, and our history final that was supposed to be june 24th got switched to this wednesday. awesome =/ whew.....looong entry. hopes this satisfies some people's need for me to be constantly updating lol. oh, and HAPPY BIRTHDAY MEG!!! =) 2 |take the chance
